Proposal Reviews March 25 to April 23, 2021

The WE speaker proposal selection process was created to ensure effective programming and speaking opportunities are provided to empower attendees to succeed at every stage of their professional development. WE conference proposals are peer-reviewed at least three times by SWE’s Conference Advisory Board, SWE experts in specialized areas of focus, and SWE staff according to the WE Call for Participation Guidelines.

The proposal review process will occur between March 25 to April 23, 2021.  If you have the subject matter expertise and are familiar with the guidelines, and want to review proposals, please complete this form

Speaker acceptances will be sent in two rounds. The first acceptance will be sent on May 26 and the second acceptance will be sent on June 30.

WE21 Session Formats

WE21 includes the following session formats, submitted through the CFP.

  • Listen and learn Lectures are the standard 60-minute conference session where one or two subject-matter-experts present to a large group of attendees, so there are minimal group discussions.
  • Engaged Exchange Panel Discussions are 60-minute discussions, providing the opportunity to learn from multiple subject-matter-experts on past experiences and personal views on identified topics.
  • Snap Sessions (formally lightning talks) are short 15-minute thought-provoking sessions given by one or two speakers.

Professional Speakers selected outside of the CFP

  • Inspirational Insights (formerly mega sessions) are high-level, thought-provoking sessions designed to engage attendees on a range of relevant topics. SWE selects professional speakers according to identified content needs of SWE membership.
