SUMMARY:MAL FY26 April Event: Navigating Your Decade: Personal Branding and Your Board of Directors
DESCRIPTION:Summary:\nIn today’s competitive landscape\, it is crucial for women engineers to be strategic when navigating transitions in their mid to late career stages. As seasoned professionals\, Lisa and Wendy both know first-hand what a career change can look like after more than two decades of work and they will share the proven strategies to make these shifts successful. \nA strong personal brand not only enhances visibility but also communicates one’s value\, expertise\, and aspirations to peers and potential employers. Simultaneously\, a board of directors provides invaluable support\, diverse perspectives\, and guidance tailored to\nindividual career goals. \nThis session will explore practical steps for building a compelling personal brand and assembling a supportive network\, emphasizing the importance of authenticity\, proactive networking\, and continuous learning. By embracing these strategies\, women engineers can confidently make impactful career moves\, foster resilience\, and create pathways for growth and innovation in their professional journeys. \nLisa Rimpf\nLisa Rimpf is the Senior Proposals Manager for Babcock & Wilcox’s BrightLoop™ organization\, where she leads a team focused on implementing innovative chemical looping technology. Prior to rejoining B&W in February 2024\, Lisa previously held key leadership roles at Dürr\, a global mechanical engineering firm\, including a significant assignment in Stuttgart\, Germany. \nStarting her career at B&W in 2006\, she excelled in roles such as Research Engineer and Integration Manager for Corporate Mergers & Acquisitions. Lisa also served as Director of Operational Excellence at Dürr\, driving advancements in Clean Technology Systems. \nShe holds both a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from The University of Toledo and is an active member of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE)\, advocating for diversity and innovation in the field. \nWendy Cocke\nWendy Cocke\, a trailblazer in redefining career success\, is the author of two bestselling books\, “Making Flex Work: Defining Success on Your Own Terms” and “Reimagine Your Work: Managing Your Career Like It’s Your Business” and a contributor to “When Work Works: Cutting-Edge Solutions for the Contemporary Workplace.” She is the visionary behind Engineering Leadership Solutions\, guiding technical professionals and organizations to think about work differently. Her journey from growing up in a family business\, to obtaining a chemical engineering degree and then leading global teams showcases her belief in hard work and perseverance. Wendy’s pivotal moment came when she negotiated the flexible work arrangement that launched her from individual contributor to a director\, and eventually to a business owner. SUMMARY:ECP AG: WE Local Recap Part 2
DESCRIPTION:The SWE Early Career Professionals Affinity Group cordially invites you to our upcoming virtual event\, “WE Local Recap Part 2” on Tuesday\, April 7\, at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT! Did you miss WE Local Portland? Join us for this discussion as we explore the common challenges young professionals face 3–5 years into their careers. Transitioning from entry-level roles to positions of greater responsibility\, the weight of imposter syndrome\, and societal pressures can make career advancement feel intimidating. While workplace dynamics demand a careful balance of professionalism and authenticity\, many struggle to gain leadership experience\, balance personal and professional growth\, and weigh financial decisions. \nThis roundtable discussion will not only highlight these pain points but also create a space for open dialogue\, where panelists share their intimate anecdotes and honest reflections. Collegiate students and early-career professionals are encouraged to join the conversation to create a moment of collective self-reflection. Framed as a cathartic open letter to your 20-year-old self\, this conversation encourages you to move forward with clarity\, humility\, and support—while reminding us that we may not have all the answers\, but none of us are navigating these challenges alone. \nMeeting details will be provided after completing the registration. \n

SUMMARY:MAL FY26 Women’s History Month March Event: “Women Engineering Legends 1952-1976: Society of Women Engineers Achievement Award Recipients”
DESCRIPTION:Summary: The SWE Legends Project\, a SWE Late Career and Retiree Affinity Group (LCR) project\, embarked on a mission to honor the achievements of SWE pioneers by improving and enhancing the public information available on Wikipedia. Their efforts were inspired by SWE’s mission to “expand the image of the engineering and technology professions as a positive force in improving the quality of life.” After WE24\, this project took on an expanded scope: Write a book about the first 25 Achievement Award recipients to coincide with SWE’s 75th anniversary. In this session\, learn about the first 25 achievement award recipients and their contributions to technology\, how they became role models for the subsequent generations of women engineers\, and how their pioneering paths paved the way for their success.\nLearning Objectives:\n● Describe the technical accomplishments of SWE’s earliest Achievement Award recipients.\n● Understand how their accomplishments contributed to society.\n● Raise awareness of the SWE Achievement Awards program.\nSpeakers: \nDebra Kimberling\, SWE Fellow\, DSA\nSTEM Advocate\, Author\nSWE Late Career & Retiree AG\, SWE Legends Workgroup Lead\nSan Diego County Engineering Council\nSan Diego\, California\, United States \nJan L. Williams\, SWE Fellow\, DSA\nSTEM advocate\, Author\nSWE Late Career and Retiree Affinity Group\nAlbuquerque\, New Mexico\, United States

SUMMARY:From Imposter to Trailblazer: Claiming Your Power as a Leader
DESCRIPTION:What if the very doubt you think disqualifies you is the proof of your leadership edge? We’ve been fed a lie: that feeling like an imposter means you don’t belong. The truth? Doubt is a natural byproduct of growth\, visibility\, and high standards. \nIn this session\, Tanya Geisler will expose the 12 Lies of the Imposter Complex\, the behaviors they trigger\, and how high-achieving leaders can move from self-doubt to strategic power. We’ll reframe Imposter Complex as a signpost of significance—and use it to unlock ICONIC confidence\, presence\, and action. \nThis session isn’t about “fixing” yourself—it’s about owning your leadership. Together\, we’ll dismantle outdated narratives about imposterhood\, build a new foundation of confidence that doesn’t require perfection\, and explore the ICONIC™ Framework as a leadership tool. For engineers\, executives\, and entrepreneurs alike—this is a call to stop minimizing and start leading with grounded ambition. \nRegister today in the Advance Learning Center!
