Jennifer Walck
Exxon Mobil Corporation
For championing an inclusive and diverse workplace culture; for mentoring with compassion and grace; and for raising the visibility of women engineers in her industry.
Jennifer Walck most recently served as safety, security, health, and environment manager for the Exxon Mobil Corporation’s Unconventional Upstream business and has 23 years of oil and gas industry experience. As one of few woman members of the leadership team, she is tenacious in using her genuine care for people of all backgrounds to drive improvement in safety and environmental performance of the most dynamic, geographically dispersed, and highest priority developments in the Upstream business.
In previous roles — as the global engineering manager for materials, civil, and marine in the Exxon Mobil Upstream Integrated Solutions Company and then static equipment, materials, and heat transfer for the entire corporation — Walck was in charge of the development and deployment of engineering resources to ExxonMobil’s global business. Her teams were responsible for supporting capital projects and the technical needs of sites around the world. Throughout her career, she has held a mix of technical and leadership positions, including positions in strategic planning, operations leadership, and professional development.
An active Society of Women Engineers member since college, Walck has routinely advocated for women through her engagement as a SWE advisor to the Exxon Mobil Corporate Partnership Council executive leadership team and by helping establish Women’s Leadership Networks at Upstream affiliates in North America and the Houston headquarters. She proved to be a catalyst for change on the team, resulting in a SWE section in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Walck has volunteered extensively through SWE outreach activities, including Invent It. Build It. and SWENext. She has participated in SWE annual conferences as a presenter in the professional development track.
Walck also participates in career fairs at different field locations across ExxonMobil, serving as a visible role model of a woman achieving high levels of technical and managerial accomplishment.
As her career transitioned into executive roles, Walck’s sphere of influence expanded and enabled her to have substantive impact on programs and policies for women. In recent years, she has been a formal lead for culture change across various parts of the corporation, driving teams toward more sustainable, enabling behaviors. As a longtime champion of diversity, Walck strives to find ways for all employees to be valued, challenged, and have fun.
Walck earned a B.S. in materials engineering at Drexel University. She is married with two sons who bring out the joy of LEGOs, building forts, and video games. Walck likes to read and get creative with arts and crafts. Travel is focused on family time to keep close ties with grandparents, aunts, and uncles.
