Amanda Weissman

Amanda Weissman is a principal systems engineer at Lockheed Martin. She currently works as the systems and software architecture manager on the U.S. Navy Integrated Combat System at its flagship software factory, The Forge. In this role, Weissman works collaboratively with government, industry, and academia to bring capabilities to the warfighter faster.
Weissman began her career as a systems engineer on the Aegis Combat System before joining Lockheed Martin’s engineering leadership development program. After graduating, Weissman held roles in radar manufacturing test and radar systems engineering. She worked on a variety of products, including radars, for the U.S. Army, Navy, and Space Force. Weissman also had opportunities in the commercial world as a technical program manager for SevOne and as a product management consultant for Comcast. Weissman returned to Lockheed Martin to continue to pursue a technical career path, and has gained expertise in model-based systems engineering, system architecture, and cybersecurity.
Weissman’s leadership style provides individual attention to her customers and team members and encourages everyone to stretch and grow. At Lockheed Martin, she is an active STEM outreach volunteer. Among many initiatives, she led the annual Women in Engineering Day event at the Moorestown, New Jersey, facility and founded the site’s STEM council. In 2015, Lockheed Martin celebrated her efforts with its highest-level recognition — Evening of the Stars — for diversity and inclusion. Weissman also volunteers regularly with her synagogue and is a dedicated Girl Scout troop leader.
Weissman is a Society of Women Engineers life member and is currently a SWE senator. She has held a variety of SWE leadership roles in her nearly two decades of membership, including president of the Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey sections, multiple coordinator roles, and leadership coach. Weissman also represented Lockheed Martin on SWE’s Corporate Partnership Council and was the Lockheed Martin SWE chair. In 2023, Lockheed Martin recognized her at its Evening of Excellence with the People Focused award for diversity and inclusion for her contributions to SWE.
Weissman is a certified information systems security professional (CISSP), SAFe 6 Architect, Lockheed Martin qualified systems architect, and lean Six Sigma green belt. She serves on the Rochester Institute of Technology Graduate School Dean’s Advisory Council and the Fram Executive Advisory Board for Applied Critical Thinking. Weissman holds memberships with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE), and National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA). She received the SWE Distinguished New Engineer award in 2016, the Rochester Institute of Technology Kate Gleason College of Engineering Emerging Leader Award in 2019, and the WE Local ELiTE award in 2020.
Weissman holds a B.S. in electrical engineering and an M.S. in materials science and engineering, both from Rochester Institute of Technology, and an M.S. in systems engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. She lives in Maryland with her husband and two young children, and she enjoys traveling and hiking.
