Jasmine Naseri is a communication systems engineer at the Northrop Grumman Corporation in Manhattan Beach, California, where she has worked since 2016. One of the highlights of her early career was her role as a payload subsystem lead for two subsystems on three Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) communication satellites, ensuring successful completion of milestones during integration and test, launch, and activation. During one milestone to verify payload health and successful shipment to the launch site, Naseri was one of the most critical members of the team who executed the rapid analysis of test data in real time. She performed exceptionally well under immense pressure to ensure integrity of the payload hardware, supported an aggressive test schedule, and briefed the customer community, all within a 24-hour period, completing the milestone and guaranteeing that the payload was ready to launch.
Following three launches in 1.5 years, Naseri supported activation of each payload as a technical advisor. In this role, she observed an anomaly unlike previous flights, and immediately escalated it to halt further commands and prevent risk to the payload. Naseri helped resolve the issue by isolating it to a known hardware artifact. With her technical knowledge of the subsystem, the issue was quickly mitigated, and the team was able to successfully continue the mission as scheduled.
After the completion of the AEHF program, Naseri was the unit verification lead for the advanced digital processor of the Enhanced Polar System – Recapitalization (EPS-R) communication system. She led a cross-functional team of five members and was responsible for developing test vectors to verify unit functions and compliance. During this process, Naseri learned a complicated tool used by only a handful of individuals at the company. After extensive troubleshooting of the test software, she successfully completed the verification testing milestone in two days to deliver the unit and alleviate further program delays.
In addition to her EPS-R support, Naseri contributed to the business capture of Evolved Strategic SATCOM, a new, major rapid-prototype program, and is currently the development lead for the payload specification. She is leading a team of eight to write requirements at an accelerated pace for how the payload will function and perform. She is also a key contributor to the space vehicle and unit teams, helping define this new system at each level.
In 2019, Naseri was nominated for the Northrop Grumman Women in Science and Engineering cohort. A SWE member for almost 10 years, she recently completed three years as president of the Los Angeles Section and is actively engaged in K-12 and collegiate outreach, paying forward the inspiration and encouragement she received from her mentor and her many SWEsters.
Naseri holds a B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California. She earned an M.S. in electrical engineering (signal processing and communications) from the University of California, Los Angeles while working full time. She enjoys traveling, exploring different cultures, and history. When not on a plane, Naseri can be found skiing, hiking, baking, making ceramics, and reading.
