Elizabeth Bierman

Elizabeth BiermanElizabeth Bierman served as the SWE FY15 President. Elizabeth is a senior project engineer at Honeywell Aerospace in Minneapolis, where she leads initiatives through the project engineering council. In this role, the aim is to improve communication and alignment, instill a “one engineering” organization philosophy, and help identify and address major issues negatively impacting project engineering effectiveness.

Involved with the Society of Women Engineers since 1994, Bierman aided in chartering the East Central Iowa Section, was a member of the Boston Section, and, since 2003, has been involved with the Minnesota Section. Bierman served as section representative, vice president, and president of the Minnesota Section and as Region H leadership coach, lieutenant governor, and governor. At the Society level, she has been a member of the outreach and program development grant committee, was chair of the finance committee, and served as deputy director of regions. In addition, she served on the board of directors as secretary and president-elect and is honored to serve as president for FY15. Bierman received the Society’s Distinguished New Engineer Award in 2006.

She earned a B.S. in aerospace engineering, and a master’s in systems engineering, both from Iowa State University and an MBA from Bentley University. Bierman also holds a program management certification (PMP).

She is married to David, an engineer, and has two daughters, Lauren and Avery.
