The proportion of undergraduate engineering degrees awarded to females has been slowly increasing since 2010, surpassing 20% in 2017. In 2019, 22.1% of undergraduate degrees were awarded to women. Women were well-represented among the disciplines of biosystems and geological engineering, where they comprised 47.2% and 39.4%, respectively, of the undergraduate degree holders in those disciplines. However, women were much less represented among undergraduate degree holders in mining or mineral (14.5%) and software engineering (14%).
