Young adolescents from Brazil were surveyed about their science career expectations in the 2018 PISA survey, an international student assessment. For both boys and girls, a higher percentage of Brazilian students compared to the percentage of students from OECD countries have expectations to work as science and engineering professionals. Specifically, 10.2% of Brazilian girls compared to the OECD average of 7.1% of girls expect to work as science and engineering professionals. Similarly, 21.7% of Brazilian boys compared to the OECD average of 15.2% of boys have these science and engineering career expectations.
