The SWE Richmond Section was founded in 1988 with Shannon Venable as the first president. Women engineers living in central Virginia, including but not limited to the Richmond metropolitan area, Petersburg, and Charlottesville, are support by this SWE professional section. The SWE Richmond Area Section Scholarship is open to those who identify as a woman and are entering the field of engineering or computer science. Applicants must be entering her first year of college and live in Virginia.
