I am a retired chemist and chemical engineer, and I dealt with good ol’ boys, or bro culture, for 43 years. I learned that by keeping up with my education and having a great work ethic, I was able to excel despite the gender bias.
I have written a novel about my journey as a woman in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics who has dealt with personal hardships as well as gender bias in both the educational system and workplace.
The book is To Caroline – Love, Auntie. I wrote this book so I could show all women that what they are experiencing today is what I experienced my whole career, but it did not stop me from loving what I did.
