You Can Make an Impact Today with SWE
Support a future where women in engineering and technology. thrive—through scholarships, outreach, and lasting community.
Why Your Gift Matters
Given uncertain social and economic conditions, your support is needed now more than ever. Progress toward gender equity in engineering and technology slowed, and without immediate action, this gap will continue to widen.
Only 23% of bachelor’s degrees in engineering and technology were awarded to women.
Female students were nearly four times less likely to be interested in majoring in STEM fields.
Only 26.8% of women continue in engineering jobs, compared to 41% of male engineers.
Women currently make up only 28.2% of the global STEM workforce across all industries.

Endow a Scholarship
The Society of Women Engineers – Endowment Fund Inc. manages all endowed scholarships under the oversight of SWE’s Board of Trustees. A minimum of $25,000 is required to establish an endowment, with a one-time $2,500 fee recommended to support administrative and investment costs.
Endowments are maintained in perpetuity, with scholarships funded by investment earnings. After one year, a $25,000 endowment typically supports a $1,000 annual scholarship, with larger gifts generating proportionally more. Scholarships may be named by the donor or in honor of someone, and honorees are recognized on SWE’s website.
In making any endowed scholarship gift, please include the legal name of SWE-EFI and our EIN: 20-2761991.

Your Support in Action
“SWE is a community of support, encouragement, and inspiration. Becoming a SWE life member and supporter meant that I would not only always have access to that community, but also that I could help ensure that the community persists beyond my lifetime – it allows me to give back to the next generation who can be just as inspired by SWE members as I always am!”
“I joined SWE in 2000 and ultimately became a Life member with the encouragement of a colleague that I admired. The SWE community has provided me with personal support and a variety of professional development opportunities over many years. Becoming a Life Member helps me pay it forward to the next generation of members and reminds me how SWE has fostered a sense of belonging throughout my career.”
“Originally a member since 1974, I became a Life Member of SWE when I served on the board in the 1990s. The Society was very different then, it was truly a volunteer-run organization with a very small headquarters staff. It was important to me for the Society to have a stable funding stream to support our activities. My participation in SWE has opened many doors throughout my career as I moved from environmental consulting to university administration, and many of my closest friends are those I have met through SWE. I’m glad to see how the organization has grown over the years and continues to support and advocate for women in the profession.”
“A few years ago, the Annual Conference theme was ‘Life’s Variable, SWE’s Your Constant.’ This theme resonates so strongly with me – as I’ve moved from city to city, from job to job, and from collegiate to professional, SWE has been there every step of the way. Because of SWE, I’ve landed internships and jobs, grown my skills personally and professionally, and been able to give back to others by volunteering locally and on society-wide committees. Most importantly, I’ve made lifelong friendships and broadened my community in ways I never thought possible.”
