
Kelly Kloster Hon is a Sr. R&D Manager at Becton Dickinson (BD), a medical technology company, living in San Diego, California. She leads a global team of engineers focused on gross profit improvement through cost savings initiatives for the Medical business. Prior to joining BD, she designed consumer, medical, and commercial products at a consulting firm and then Newell Brands. Kelly graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, completing graduate school in German at the University of Stuttgart.
Kelly is not only a STEM professional but also a STEM ambassador. She dedicates her time to helping students develop a passion for STEM while also equipping women to be successful in industry. Her passion was ignited during her collegiate years where she became actively involved in SWE. She has served in various roles across the collegiate, professional, and society levels from committee member to most recently, FY21 and FY22 SWE-San Diego President. Additionally, she is a Board Member of Athena, a global women’s advocacy organization that fast-tracks women in STEM, and was the global co-lead for BD’s Women’s Initiative Network Employee Resource Group. The joy her advocacy efforts bring her propels her forward, impacting the community and business at multiple levels. She is the recipient of several awards for her volunteerism and dedication to inclusion and diversity, including being honored as a 2022 BD “Life Changer” and San Diego’s 2022 “Woman of the Year.”
