Miriam Engel

Miriam Engel serves as an engineering team manager for the Intel Corporation Client Computing Group, where she manages 19 individual contributors from early-career stages to 25 years of industry experience. She has an outstanding record of leading high-performing teams to organizational and personal success. Engel and her team focus on Intel® Converged Security and Manageability Engine, responsible for debugging complex customer issues, innovation, and solutions for internal and external usage.

Engel’s leadership style is one of “thinking outside of the box” to improve efficiency and quality. For example, in the debugging area, she led her team to a quality acceleration initiative aimed at reducing the number of “escapes” (issues reported by the customers). Engel’s work led to a significant result of first-ever achieved goal of zero customer-submitted issues by the product launch timeline.

Starting as an innovation and tools manager, Engel grew into the global cross-team innovation lead position, eventually driving activities for hundreds of thousands of employees within her organization. For example, she led a successful innovation campaign and established an incubator for the best ideas submitted that resulted in a successful reference design and an innovative product. Engel also initiated and led for the first time at Intel an intra-organizational coaching and training program for innovation leaders with about 30 senior participants from Intel worldwide, a program that is successful and being cloned to other groups within Intel.

Engel was also chosen as one of seven senior leaders at Intel to drive the transformation of the personal PC for enhancing end user experience.

In addition to her technical leadership and results, Engel has led multiple customer-first and customer awareness campaigns across groups, raising awareness of customers’ perspectives and pain points. She is known for bringing a fresh and positive attitude, high energy, and a can-do mindset.

Engel is dedicated to supporting others, with an emphasis on empowering women in technological roles often serving as a volunteer tutor, coach, and mentor. She co-leads the Intel Israel Observant Community, the second-largest employee resource group in Israel. In this role, she is responsible for talent development and empowerment. Engel set the strategy for 2022, addressing employee needs across a spectrum that includes early career, midcareer, and advanced career. Engel initiated and planned mentorships, employee circles, work/life balance workshops, and multiple professional and soft skills clubs.

Outside of Intel, Engel volunteers in a nongovernmental organization of observant women in STEM, a more than 15,000-member community of whom more than 60% are women engineers.

Engel has received multiple Intel Division Recognition Awards and an honorable mention for the company’s Software Quality Award. She holds a B.Sc. (summa cum laude) and M.Sc. (cum laude) in computer science from Jerusalem College of Technology and the Open University of Israel, respectively. Engel has five young sons, swims on a regular basis, and enjoys ice skating, nature, and family activities.
