SWE Magazine and Diverse, a SWE podcast earned top honors in the 2025 FOLIO: Eddies and Ozzies competition. A total of 11 editorial, design, and podcast entries were named as finalists, and three of those earned awards. Eddies acknowledge editorial excellence and Ozzies acknowledge outstanding design.

The magazine article, “DEI Faces Rising Waters,” won an Eddie award in the diversity and inclusion category. Written by contributor Seabright McCabe and published in the Conference 2024 issue, the feature describes how U.S. universities are reacting to anti-diversity, equity, and inclusion legislation and other federal restrictions.

The magazine cover of the Spring 2024 issue, associated with the feature article, “Unconventional Engineering Destinations,” won an Ozzie in the cover design category. JoAnn Dickey is the magazine’s longtime art director.
Diverse, a SWE podcast, won an Eddie for cultural or community podcasts for “Episode 275: A Fireside Chat With Forbes ‘50 Over 50’ Awardees Dr. Carlotta Berry and Karen Horting.” Horting, the executive director and CEO of the Society of Women Engineers, and Dr. Berry, professor of electrical and computer engineering at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and founder of NoireSTEMinist Educational Consulting LLC, discussed winning the Forbes honor and their efforts to increase access to STEM education and careers for all. Larry Guthrie, SWE director of strategic content, and SWE’s marketing partner, David James Group, produced the podcast.
The other finalists are:
- SWE Magazine’s State of Women in Engineering 2025, in the full issue, science, engineering, and technology category. The annual special issue is produced in conjunction with SWE’s research department.
- The feature articles “Behind the Scenes & Ahead of Their Time,” “Women in STEM: Perceptions vs. Realities,” and “The Community College Connection,” each recognized in the category of single article, professional development, and industry insights.
