For technical accomplishments and leadership in global supply chain; for improving the work environment through DEI initiatives; and for dedicated service to SWE and programs that engage girls in STEM.

Joyanna Mazzone is an early-career professional at Lockheed Martin. She is a participant in the company’s prestigious Operations Leadership Development Program, a rigorous three-year training program offering talented engineers a well-rounded experience with Lockheed Martin’s business area and processes, technical knowledge, and leadership training.

Mazzone recently transitioned to a new role as a manufacturing engineer for Advanced Development Programs at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics. Previously, she served as a supply chain strategist for the Enterprise Global Supply Chain Operations team, where she supported various initiatives within strategy development in talent and technology, communications, compliance and governance, data protection, and sustainability. Prior to that, Mazzone was a quality engineer for the mechanical receiving inspection team, where she improved performance and productivity of receiving inspection processes by maintaining metrics.

Before joining the leadership development program, Mazzone was a quality engineer supporting strategic initiatives and optimized processes to benefit the Space Quality organization. In this role, she modernized four Lockheed Martin Space Quality engineer certification processes and training materials, and managed certifications and courses within the learning management system. These certifications are crucial for quality engineers to perform daily job functions such as dispositioning nonconformances, identifying root cause and corrective actions, performing test procedures, and validating drawings. Mazzone also assessed the compliance and best practices of program and production areas to improve front line engagement and promote visibility of area health, safety, hardware, and facilities readiness.

Mazzone is an advocate for women in STEM; diversity, equity, and inclusion; and volunteering in her community. She successfully led and executed Young Minds at Work virtual event for over 1,700 children across the nation. This outreach event provided a first-hand look at the exciting careers across Lockheed Martin Space through engaging tours, demonstrations, experiments, and panels. She was active in the SWE section at Texas A&M University and held various leadership positions, including high school conference co-chair and Society representative. She is currently the Lockheed Martin SWE events committee lead and is an active leader in the company’s Women’s Impact Network (WIN) and the Professional Asian American Network business resource groups.

She is dedicated to inspiring young minds through community outreach and talent acquisition efforts. Through Lockheed Martin, Mazzone received its 2022 PAAN Vision Award for her leadership, enhancing communication, and building connections. Mazzone also received the company’s 2021 WIN Rising Star Award for her advocacy of women in STEM, leadership in business resource groups, and for being a change agent through her technical contributions.

Prior to her work at Lockheed Martin, she was a pre-service teacher and teaching assistant at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, where she prepared and implemented fun and creative STEM curricula for children ages 6-12.

Mazzone holds a B.S. in industrial and systems engineering with a minor in engineering project management from Texas A&M University. She is pursuing an M.S. in engineering management from Johns Hopkins University, with expected completion in 2024. She is lean Six Sigma certified through the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers.

In her free time, Mazzone enjoys art, traveling, hiking, camping, and skiing.
