Section Selected, Endowed Scholarships

The SWE Willamette Valley Section (WVS) was chartered in 1997 and covers the mid-Willamette Valley from Salem to Eugene, OR.  Although the section is relatively small with typically 30-40 paying members, it is extremely vital to the community.  WVS has two SWE endowed, section selected scholarships.  One scholarship is named for the section and was endowed in 2012.  The Roberta Marie Stinson Memorial Scholarship which was endowed in 2019 and was first awarded in the fall of 2020.  This professional section also administers corporate sponsored scholarships each year.  These scholarships are available to applicants in Oregon only.

Roberta Marie Stinson [1965 – 2018]

robertaIn 1994, Roberta received her doctorate at Cornell University, where she met her husband Bill. The two were married in September 1995. Roberta spent most of her career at HP in Corvallis, Oregon.  Roberta was a senior member of SWE and joined the society in 1998.  Roberta displayed a ferocious passion for life, pouring her energies into her love of fitness, travel, and creative projects, including sewing and stained glass. Her infectious personality made Roberta a magnet for friends and family alike. Roberta’s loving nature is best illustrated by her commitment to rescuing former racing greyhounds.
