Beyond a Job Description – The Importance of Building Significance

Our much-anticipated Coffee Club is back! Join us on September 13th for our first Coffee Club of the season: Beyond a Job Description – The Importance of Building Significance. If you are interested in volunteering with SWE, this is also a great chance to stop by and say hello!
Each Coffee Club features a professional theme for discussion. For this event, we will explore how to develop a corporate image, create impact, and find true fulfillment in our work. When we apply for a job, the job description outlines our responsibilities and daily tasks. But the job description doesn’t define who we are at work. The real difference comes from how we approach challenges, solve problems, and foster meaningful connections.
The power of mattering cannot be overstated – it fuels confidence, growth, and allows you to find your purpose. Together, we’ll reflect on our career journeys: uncovering our passions, sharpening skills, and leveraging them to do work we truly enjoy. We’ll also dive into what drives motivation, what brings satisfaction, and how we can shape environments where everyone thrives.

The Coffee Club will be held at Creeds Coffee Bar, located at 450 Dupont Street, near Dupont Station on the TTC Line 1. It is at the intersection of Albany and Dupont, near Casa Loma. We look forward to seeing you there!
Who’s Welcome:
All Engineers, EITs, P.Geo’s, professionals in engineering-related fields (yes, that includes you technicians, technologists, software folks, GIS gurus, etc!) and new grads are welcome. We welcome people of all genders and supporters of women in engineering fields. Bring your friends and make new ones!
