Deanna Duram, P.E., is a principal consultant and the director of the Women in Leadership Initiative for Trinity Consultants, a global environmental consulting firm. Duram is committed to providing high-quality, high-integrity support to all clients and individuals with whom she engages and is focused on facilitating transformative dialogues and outcomes.
With more than 25 years of experience, Duram is a recognized subject matter expert in the pulp, paper, and tissue industries, specializing in air quality and permitting and compliance management. She has a deep understanding of the air permitting process, aiding industrial clients in optimizing business flexibility while ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
Duram is a staunch advocate for women in engineering and leadership roles. As director of Trinity’s Women in Leadership Initiative, she has been instrumental in promoting gender diversity and empowering women within the organization and the broader engineering community. Her efforts have included mentoring, organizing professional development programs, and leading projects that support women’s career advancement. She also serves on Trinity’s workplace belonging committee. In recognition of her advocacy, Duram was honored in 2022 as Woman of the Year by the Women in Industry division of the Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry, known as TAPPI. She is a frequent presenter at industry conferences, sharing her technical expertise and promoting greater inclusion and representation of women in engineering.
Duram is dedicated to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for women engineers. She has contributed to a wide range of publications and panel discussions, sharing her insights about the importance of a diverse and inclusive industry. Her dedication to environmental engineering and support for other women make her a respected leader. Beyond professional settings, Duram has also introduced environmental engineering to elementary school students and serves as a resource for local high schoolers seeking input on what it means to be an environmental engineer.
Duram holds a B.S. in civil and environmental engineering and an M.S. in environmental engineering from the University of Michigan. She is affiliated with the Air and Waste Management Association, the National Council for Air and Stream Improvements, and TAPPI. She is also a registered professional engineer in Georgia and South Carolina.
Outside of work, Duram enjoys family time with her spouse, daughter, and pooches. She earned a second-degree black belt in taekwondo and enjoys baking, traveling, reading, and faith-based activities, including serving on international mission trips. A leader by example, she encourages others to “be the change they want to see.”
