Since joining SWE in 2019, Emily Burnett has led efforts to implement SWE’s global strategy and expand member engagement outside of the United States, bringing high-quality professional development and opportunities to women in STEM worldwide. Emily’s leadership also extends to SWE’s precollege programs, which foster creativity, curiosity, and a passion for STEM through engaging learning experiences, mentorship, and a supportive community.
In 2022, Emily was named a recipient of the Association Forum’s Forty Under 40 Award, recognizing accomplished association professionals who demonstrate high potential for continued success and a strong commitment to the association and nonprofit sectors. She holds the Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential, earned in 2025.
Emily has a B.A. in Economics and Spanish from the University of Illinois and an M.S. in Public Service Management from DePaul University.
