Allison Goodman
Intel
For tireless, creative advocacy of diversity in engineering; for exceptional leadership in service of SWE’s mission and goals; and for energetic STEM outreach in her community.
Allison Goodman is a senior principal engineer for Intel, specializing in embedded systems, firmware, and storage and memory products. She currently serves as a senior director and foundational software technologist within Intel’s AI Data Center Business Unit.
Goodman has made significant contributions to the computing industry, driving innovation and the successful productization of disruptive technologies. She holds a B.S. in electrical and computer engineering from Cornell University and a project management professional certification.
Throughout her career, Goodman has been a transformational technical leader, strong advocate for advancing women in STEM to achieve their full potential, and a role model for inspiring future generations of engineers. An active Society of Women Engineers life member, she has held various leadership roles within the Society, serving on the outreach, nominating, and audit committees. She has also served as SWE section president for Cornell University and Sierra Foothills and Region A governor.
An enthusiastic mentor, Goodman created SWE’s first speed mentoring event in 2007, which became immensely popular at SWE annual conferences. Currently, she represents Intel on SWE’s Corporate Partnership Council, promoting opportunities for women’s advancement in engineering.
Goodman is committed to drawing more inclusivity to technical pipelines, enabling women to advance and reach their full potential. Her dedication to empowering women engineers has global reach through her involvement in Intel employee resource groups and the Intel Foundation board.
A resident of Sacramento, Goodman’s impact on the community is extensive. She was instrumental in founding the nonprofit Hacker Lab/Maker Space, led nonprofit Sacramento Advocates for Girls Empowerment as a board member, and currently serves as board chair for Sacramento’s Courtyard Private School. She is a frequent classroom guest speaker and mentor for many STEM programs in the area. Through community nonprofit leadership and public speaking, she has inspired many women engineers to pursue their ambitions and increase their influence in engineering and technology fields.
Goodman’s achievements have been recognized with the SWE Emerging Leader and Distinguished New Engineer awards. She received the prestigious Intel Achievement Award, Alpha Phi’s national Ursa Major Award for Success and Influence in the Technology, Science, and Engineering Field, and has been an Intel Inside brand ambassador.
Goodman has always been deeply inspired by the magic of engineering, which solves tough problems and makes ideas a reality. She draws energy from inspiring others to appreciate this same magic and to walk their own paths toward making the world a better place.
Goodman spends her free time trying to keep up with her two young daughters and walking her Weimaraner. She is grateful for the partnership of her husband, Brett, and enjoys time cooking, traveling, and talking about community and entrepreneurship with him.
