Anne Shen Smith
Anne earned her Bachelor’s degree in Industrial and Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1976. She received a Master’s in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from the University of California, Berkeley in 1977.
Career Anne served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas), a natural gas utility subsidiary of Sempra Energy serving Southern California and portions of Central California, from 2012 until her retirement in March 2014. She also held various other executive positions at SoCalGas, including Chief Operating Officer, Senior Vice President – Customer Services, and Vice President of Environment and Safety. Anne also served as Senior Vice President – Customer Services of SoCalGas. Anne has been a director of PG&E Corporation and Pacific Gas and Electric Company since 2015.
Scholarship The Anne Shen Smith Scholarship was endowed by the Southern California Gas Company in 2014. US citizens in their sophomore, junior, or senior year of undergraduate studies are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to students attending colleges or universities in California as well as underrepresented minorities.
